Here’s another Swim Tank video clip of the Dome Cone Leech in slow motion! I placed the “slow motion” effect on the footage so you can see the erratic action the “Dome Cone” employs on this leech pattern! Movement during the swing presentation triggers aggressive strikes from predator gamefish.
My test subjects currently are migratory Great Lakes steelhead but soon after their departure back to the depths of the big lakes…I’ll set my sites on others like stream trout and river smallmouth bass! Current causes this particular tube fly to move freely around no matter what depth of the water column you’re fishing. Floating lines and long leaders will work in shallow to moderate depths and sink tips and short leaders in deeper water!
Just present these TF’s with a down and cross approach. “Swinging” tubes flies to your favorite query is fun all season long so don’t get hung up on all this steelhead talk. Give these leeches and your favorite fly rod a try anytime of the year! For more info on this “rivethead” version just visit the tutorial section or the TF galleries at Tubeflies.com! Hope to share a few result photos with you soon!
