Field testing is tough work…but someone has to do it! So, I’ll suffer though the research and share my results with all of you! I’m currently experimenting with a variety of Dome ConeTM materials and sizes to determine sink rates, castability and durability! I’ve zeroed in on two specific outside diameter sizes and a standard thickness. Now, it’s a matter of material and finishes…that’s where the stream research comes into play!
Developing new tube fly patterns that truly catch fish is numeral uno for me! I’ll leave the “show case” tube fly tying to others…mine need to constantly catch fish or they’re useless! If you’re fishing stained waters this spring, try the firetiger pattern…fluorescent green with orange and black it’s working for me!
